About This Site
Best Pets List covers the supplies an ordinary dog or cat owner buys and then lives with: enzyme stain and odor removers, deshedding brushes, automatic feeders, orthopedic beds and indoor cat treats. Everything here is written after months of daily use in one house, with one dog and one cat, and every guide says where a product falls short before it says where it wins.

Pet Safety
Nothing on this site is veterinary advice. A limp, a sudden change in appetite, blood in the stool, repeated vomiting or a dental problem that is causing pain needs a veterinarian, not a product from a review page. Treats and supplements are not medicine and do not treat disease.
Cleaning products deserve care around animals. Enzyme cleaners are meant for soiled surfaces, never for a pet's skin, coat, eyes, ears or paws, and no cleaner should be applied to a wound. Keep animals out of a treated room until the area is fully dry, ventilate while you work, and never mix a cleaner with bleach or ammonia. Store every bottle closed and out of reach.
Automatic feeders can fail. A jam, a flat battery, a power cut or a lid a determined animal has learned to open can all mean a missed meal, so never leave an animal alone with a feeder as the only food source and check it before you travel. Portion by weight rather than trusting the dispenser, and never use a dry-food feeder for wet food.
Treats are food and count toward the day's calories. Dental treats are a supplement to brushing and a vet cleaning, never a replacement, and any chew can be a choking hazard, so supervise and size the treat to the animal.
Grooming tools have edges. Deshedding blades cut hair and can cut skin, so avoid raw or irritated patches, do not press down, and stop at the first sign of redness. Beds and bedding wear out: replace a bed once the fill has flattened or the cover has torn, because loose stuffing and shredded fabric get swallowed.
